Message to Toronto City Hall – Please repave Bloor St. W. from Dundas to BathurstPosted: June 14, 2013 | |
The road, bloor street specifically, between dundas and bathurst streets, is littered with dips, inclines, sagging pavement, mispatched holes, unrepaired deep and shallow pot holes, sometimes as large as a block of concrete. I have an issue going to and from work because of this and it has become so annoying and dangerous, that I have to regularly go into the faster moving lane and it causes raging motorists to threaten to kill, honk at me or tell me to “get the fuck off the road!!!” when I am simply trying to avoid damaging my bicycle and/or crashing due to an un balancing large hole, enough to either flatten a tire or cause me to flip forwards, or fall off entirely while riding.
I wish the city of toronto would go about this and afterwards, put bicycle lanes or sharrows, just to keep traffic in line. Sure, motorists will complain, but eventually they will get used to it. Sharrows right beside, but not where vehicles of any kind/type park (please learn from the mistake when you did college street, they’re where the vehicles park!) so this way, there is a guideline placed so motorists can’t come too close to riders who are sharing the road. This would make it allot safer and reduce the risk of getting hit by someone who is in a rush to speed though traffic without thinking twice.
Thank you, a regular cyclist who cares about others who ride to get to places where they need to go, and for those that need to ride home safely.
