I guess you could say google made the biggest change (more like the biggest fuck-up of all time), forcing all of it’s millions of users, to migrate their identities in order to even comment, add to or make a playlist, favourate and like videos. Doesn’t that suck big time? I am sure you, the readers, aren’t too impressed either. Youtube, or shall I call it googletube, has basically been crippled for current long-time users. New users won’t have to worry much, it’ll already be present, no questions asked.
The veterans, such as I, and millions more, have watched in phases how many features were implemented, and then, eventually, lost, to so many UNNEEDED changes. First it was google buying them out in 2009. That was a shocker right there. Google had more sinister plans for YouTube once they took over, and they knew the community wouldn’t be able to change their decision either.
Moderation basically went down the toilet (humans were substituted by BOTS, trolling/cyberbullying skyrocketed. So did the sheer number of fake DMCA’s, fake privacy removal requests and false flaggings. Soon channel designs got changed, features also removed in the first phase, the mobile site also changed in a good way to offer more features.
Second channel design change ended up removing even more features/functionality, pissed off a great deal of people. Soon after that, replying to comments on the mobile site vanished following the second and last One Channel design being forced upon everybody. That was backwards innovation. A core feature of interactivity was removed! Now, everybody is forced to use google plus, even if they already have one, you get a second one. Now… What to do with it? Basically nothing really. It’s a second channel, which is pathetic. Why can’t it be an alias instead? Pfft…
Now, what will I recommend for current users who are incredibly pissed off, angered, frustrated and so fucking furious over these changes? I’ll offer to list a few alternatives…
Dailymotion, Metacafe, Blip.tv, Vimeo, others that rock your socks off and have more functionality over features and those that are balanced. I know allot have migrated over by re-uploading their videos there, or did it when google first took over youtube, or any other reason, such as getting their shit out there. 🙂 I have been doing that since 2009, when a hundred nutcases took down my. First youtube channel, taking out 19 channels altogether. I strongly recommend uploading your videos on other sites, just in case google ever decides to shutdown YouTube, as the future is very uncertain and grim for us vloggers/bloggers, producers, comedians, stunt/performers, musicians, artists, activists, entertainers, etc.
Thanks for reading about the disappointment that is google, fucking up youtube phase by phase. Do feel free to SHARE this wordpress entry.
