A very exciting announcement!! – The (re)launch of Rootbrian.com!

Fresh off the internet is my new website, which I setup using a basic template provided by the hosting company I registered it with. The great thing: it’s live. The more exhausting thing: Typing all of the individual summaries for each link, correcting typos and URLs, adjusting stubborn formatting, then making a custom logo, background (which, after changing templates a few times, is now squashed) and then marking each large change, as published.

I am mentally exhausted right now for all of the typing, attention and comprehension. My eyes are sore, neck is a bit stiff and a few times, I had to step away from the computer. But now that it’s all setup and live, I STILL have changes to make. I’m going to come up with a large logo, instead of the small one and then… Ensure it works best. The problem is, the site isn’t mobile-friendly. I can’t find a damn template that is. WHY? This bugs the fuck out of me.

Maybe it’s something else I’m missing? Is it supposed to be a website frontpage only? Do I have to subscribe to a better package? I don’t know. I just need to get this figured out. Embedding and all that, I’ll need to definitely upgrade the package for the “insert my own code” feature to work properly. I hope it doesn’t cost a fortune. Right now, I’m paying $11 yearly. That’ll add to $15 yearly if I decide to add it on.

I’m hoping I can completely have some help in the future from friends, to design a good page, which DOESN’T use the templates, so I can upload my own index.htm/index.html file and all subfolders to the webspace and then… That’ll be the website of my dreams!!

But until then, go ahead, check it out and spread the word!

Why not volunteer work or temporary employment for people with disabilities?

Why not? I/us people with disabilities could really put allot of effort into working as a volunteer leading up to eventual paid employment. Temporary work can also be a very good thing, since it’s basically limited in how long the employment would last and it’ll really help the disabled gain experience in that area of skills they could put to use in jobs of the same area that are long term.

I’m basically saying, I would gladly work as a volunteer for a company, be it general labor (or work with computers) or anything I am able to do or handle without making a mistake that affects the company/plant I’m hired to work at. Even if it’s temporary work, I could do it. I’m going to be actively looking at all sources of employment/job boards that I can possibly find and sign up for.

I’m really wanting to exceed my own expectations to the best of my abilities and strengths, not focusing on the weaknesses and issues that affect me or anybody else that has similar issues, be it mentally or physically.

I wish employers would give people the chance and focus on their strengths and abilites, evaluate them and see how well, how good they work, including the amount of effort they put towards the work/tasks they’re expected to complete or at least try to complete successfully without much difficulty.

I’m hoping to find work very soon, I really am glad to write this up and to give people insight they might not be able to find elsewhere on the internet that WASN’T written by anyone with a disability.

Unemployment is real and it’s affecting me… It’s really hard to find work!!

I’m writing this blog post because, so far, each and every job I have tried to apply for/have applied to, has not gotten back to me. I haven’t received a single phone call, e-mail or anything as a response. Nothing.

What the heck does it take for anybody to even give me a chance to get/be hired to work as a general laborer in your company’s production department, shipping and receiving area, or warehouse where I can, to the best of my abilities and strengths, lift and move anything that I can handle, each and every single day, while earning an honest decent minimum hourly wage.

I have the strength, I bike to and from my home in any weather, be it windy, rainy, stormy, snowy, it doesn’t matter. I can lift quite a bit, even if I look frail and thin. Never underestimate somebody’s strength or abilities, regardless if they have autism, aspergers, down’s syndrome or any other disability. They can and will be able to work, they should have a RIGHT to work, because they are just like anybody else.

I also have a disability and in some areas, it affects me socially. I have no shame in admitting it, in fact, I’m proud of who I am, as a human being who has every single right anybody else has. If people with disabilities can work, why don’t people hire them into the workforce? Why leave them out? I just don’t understand why employers are so selective or favoring over others who don’t have any disability.

If a person can walk, move, exercise, talk, hear, see, comprehend, listen and communicate slightly differently than anybody else, THEY CAN STILL WORK. I don’t know why nobody will hire me. I haven’t ever done anything illegal or wrong, I haven’t ever gotten arrested, or went to prison. I have no criminal record. There shouldn’t be a reason why I CANNOT be hired or get hired for any job that I am capable of doing.

Sure, I don’t have a high school or college/university degree, that was because I was in a special education “treatment” centre that held me back from regular schooling for almost all of my life. Maybe that is the reason why I haven’t gotten hired, because maybe that “school” has been involved with some illegal activities in the past and then got charged for something criminal? I don’t know. I haven’t found anything like that on the internet or any physical newspaper.

If only some employer would hire me, I would do the best that I possibly can to ensure I followed all directions in the warehouse or general laborer’s area I was to be hired in. I don’t believe in arriving late to work, I believe in being punctual, on time, ahead of the game.

Thanks for your understanding. This is serious, there is no games, or comedy involved here, nothing funny either.
